Fluctuations in the energies of the Feywild have released the Old Faeries, an assortment of entities as old as the Feywild itself. They are technically fey- but barely. They have existed so long that their forms are warped to the point of unrecognizability.
House Abadie, a middling noble house of the Autumn Court, has been secretly tasked with containing the Old Faeries by the goddess Mystra. Until recently, no one in Bella Noche knew of this fact- but after the anomaly known as the Hymn managed to evade the House's associates, a small group of Crusaders were trusted with knowledge of the Old Faeries and House Abadie's eternal charge.
Whenever an anomaly rises, a thread of fate is shaken loose from the Weave. Finding and using a thread of fate allows for the peaceful containment of an old faery, but they are often difficult to locate.
Clemency Abadie is a regent of one of the... Less prestigious houses of Schönheitsnacht nobility. Xey seem to have decided to make up for xeir middling status by leveraging the reputation xey do have for seemingly useless endeavors. If you're a hero in Bella Noche, you'll likely end up chasing rats or carrying lumber for the Regent at least once in your life.
While the House Abadie's status is not the most illustrious, their control over regional trade routes and fabric production make them indispensable. For better or for worse, that includes Clemency.
Foucault is the right-hand knight of Regent Clemency Abadie. They are hard of hearing due to their bloodline's arcane connection to the old fae, unable to hear over the constant psychic noise in their head. The knight used to be the sole field agent of the Regent tasked with containing the anomalies, but when the Hymn showed up and Foucault could not properly track it, the Regent requested that their interpreter accompany them.
A lighthearted, energetic satyr from Blooming Grove, Poltier is not particularly good in a fight. Despite that, having her around is crucial- she's known Foucault so long, she can effectively interpret for them even when they insist on keeping their face obscured. When she's on duty, she wears light yellows.
The Hymn was the first anomaly confronted by the Crusaders. She had been split into two parts: her soul, the Broadcast, and her body, the Source. Her cries for her lost body turned all who heard it for too long into echoes, desperate creatures beyond life and death that craved only connection.
